Overview
The 2018 Range Rover Land Rover comes standard with a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that produces 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque and delivers an EPA-rated 17/23 mpg city/highway. A 380 hp version of the same engine is available in the HSE model. The optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 pumps out 254 hp and a healthy 443 lb-ft of torque and comes rated at 22/28 mpg. Available in the Supercharged and Autobiography models is the 518-hp, 461-lb-ft 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 that delivers 14/19 mpg (all 2017 fuel economy figures). The new 557-hp, 516-lb-ft version of the same supercharged V-8 comes equipped in the top SVAutobiography Dynamic model. All engines are backed by an eight-speed automatic and models come with four-wheel drive as standard. The available long-wheelbase model comes standard with the 518-hp V-8. In Motor Trend testing, the 340-hp Range Rover hit 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and stopped from 60 mph in 126 feet.
The Range Rover P400e plug-in model will join the lineup in 2019 with up to 31 miles of all-electric driving range.
The Range Rover comes well equipped with many standard features including 19-inch alloy wheels, Terrain Response off-road driving mode, LED headlights with signature DRL, grained leather seats, 16-way heated front seats, three-zone climate control, Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with rotary control with navigation, a Meridian sound system, power-operated gesture tailgate, electrically adjustable steering wheel, and interior ambient lighting. The range-topping SV Autobiography Dynamic model adds 21-inch wheels with a Dark Grey finish, SVAutobiography suspension tuning, quilted and perforated semi-aniline leather seats, 24-way heated and cooled massaging front seats, executive class power recline heated and cooled rear seats, perforated leather headlining, illuminated door sills with SVAutobiography script, SVAutobiography pedals, Pro Services with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a head-up display. The Touch Pro Duo infotainment system is made up of two 10.0-inch touchscreens, the upper screen is capable of swipe and pinch-to-zoom and can be angled to counter glare. Opening the Gesture Sunblinds only takes a rearward swipe in front of the rear-view mirror.
Safety
The 2018 Range Rover comes standard with a few driver assist safety features including lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control with speed limit warning. The optional Drive pack adds blind-spot monitoring, Driver Condition Monitor (drowsy driver alert) and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Drive Pro pack adds high-speed emergency braking, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with automatic stop/go. The Park pack includes a 360-degree camera system, Reverse Traffic Monitor, and Clear Exit Monitor, a feature that alerts rear exiting passengers if a vehicle is approaching and warns them with a flashing light on the door. Park Pro Pack adds Park Assist, a self-parking system that aids in parallel and perpendicular parking.
